While all kids love school holidays for the fact that they can sleep in, hang out with friends, eat at any time of the day, play games etc. are kids having too much sugar during the holidays?
Here are some tips to reduce sugar intake these holidays.
Buy plain yoghurt – Yoghurt is a great snack to buy as it keeps bones and teeth strong. However, in lots of yoghurts, there is a lot of added sugar. Buying plain yoghurt is helpful as it has little added sugars!
Buy sauces with minimal added sugar – Sauces such as ketchup, BBQ sauce etc have many added sugars and preservatives. Buying sauces with less sugar will be beneficial to your family’s health.
Offer lots of water to drink – Water helps to keep everyone hydrated, and flush out any toxins in the body. It also helps to rinse off any sugar and debris that are left on the tooth surface.
Buy low sugar cereals – Many cereals have highly added sugars in them which makes them tastier. It is good to look at the back of the box and buy cereals which include minimal sugar intake. This will keep your family healthy internally as they are not eating too much sugar, and it helps with keeping tooth decay away!
