What is the difference between a crown and a bridge ?

We usually use a dental crown to protect a single tooth over 60% damaged. A dental bridge is comprised of dental crowns and one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, and it's designed to replace missing teeth.

How Does a Bridge Work?

The bridge spans the gap in a patient's smile where the teeth are missing, with a dental crown on each side anchored over healthy teeth for security.

Our dentists may recommend a bridge for patients missing one or two teeth with healthy teeth remaining to support a bridge. Patients who wish to avoid a surgical procedure, like dental implant placement surgery, may also opt for a bridge.

What's the First Step?

Before recommending a bridge for your specific dental situation, our dentists will carefully examine your dental situation to determine whether or not a bridge is the best solution.

We will discuss the benefits of all our tooth replacement options so you can choose the most appropriate solution for your budget, lifestyle and dental needs and help you decide which one will ultimately provide the ideal tooth replacement.
